SOLITARY PLEASURES

  • Anna Freud Centre 12 Maresfield Gardens London, England, NW3 5SU United Kingdom (map)

This day long conference which takes place alongside the Solitary Pleasure exhibition explores a significant topic in the psychology of sexuality and eroticism: masturbation.

The conference investigates the history of masturbation and how it used to be seen as an unnatural disorder, unhealthy and a violation of our morals. However, it is now being seen as a magical act, something that is completely natural and healthy. The conference will look at our complex sexual and intimate encounters with ourselves and one another by perceiving masturbation as an all inclusive practice for all sexualities.
