By The Southbank Centre
The Southbank Centre is the UK’s largest arts centre, founded with the Festival of Britain in 1951 - a place where people experience world-class art and culture that stimulates, inspires, educates and amazes.
At the opening of their upcoming exhibition Space Shifters, join the curator and featured artists Anish Kapoor, Alicja Kwade and Fred Eversley for a discussion of the show.
Space Shifters is a major new thematic exhibition featuring more than 20 international artists whose work sits at the intersection of perception, space and architecture.
The show begins with a group of artists in Los Angeles during the 1960s and 1970s who pioneered the use of coloured plastics and resins as materials for sculpture, leading up to the present day with large-scale installations exploring light, surface and reflection that bring about dramatic spatial effects.
The panel of the artists will discuss the themes and ideas behind the show in an event chaired by Dr Cliff Lauson, Senior Curator, Hayward Gallery.
Date: Wednesday 26 September, 7.00pm (approximate run time 90 minutes)
Location: Purcell Room, Southbank Centre, Belvedere Road, London SE1 8XX
Investment: £13 (includes booking fee)
