The Kensington Hotel Afternoon Tea Experience

We are so pleased to have recently Partnered with The Kensington Hotel to be able to offer our Lifestyle Members a little perk for the newly launched, London Landmarks-themed afternoon tea.

So we thought what better way to continue our ‘trialled and tested’ offers, than by sampling the delights they have to offer ourselves! We naturally jumped at the chance!

What to expect?

The iconic afternoon tea by The Kensington is held in the Town House restaurant, which is a beautifully styled and relaxed dining space in a traditional space but with a modern twist. Complete with regency style, parquet floors and real fireplaces, the Town House is perfect for brunch, dinner or of course the delicious afternoon tea.

We were seated at our impressively-set, central table and admired the elegant blue and white striped crockery and silver cutlery. We were provided with the menu for the Afternoon Tea, which featured a booklet with a large variety of teas that were available to us, from traditional English breakfast tea, to Rooibos and herbal infused green teas. We also opted for champagne (a must for afternoon tea!) and we were served a crisp, cold glass shortly after being seated.

The experience commenced with a selection of starters, including a Colston Bassett Stilton & broccoli quiche, Steak & London ale pie, Crab cake tartar sauce, caper. All which were delicious and fit the British theme perfectly.

One of the wonderful serving staff then carefully explained to us more about the theme of the afternoon tea, with a beautifully illustrated map of London (that you’re allowed to take away!) He also went through all of the different sandwich and cake fillings. We were so excited as everything sounded absolutely mouth-watering!

We were so excited to see all of London’s most iconic landmarks in miniature size and made from a delicious selection of ingredients including chocolate, shortcake biscuit and cake. The detail and thought put into each piece was stunning!

Each item was carefully placed upon the three-tiered ‘London Eye’ that really captured the essence of London’s heritage.

A few of our favourites were the chocolate Shard, made of delicious chocolate ‘shards’ on the outside and including a soft carrot cake in the middle and the red telephone box made of a delicious rhubarb mousse. All of the cakes and sandwiches were absolutely divine. And of course we enjoyed a traditional scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam!

Topped up with more tea all afternoon, we thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of The Townhouse restaurant within The Kensington Hotel. And we’re so pleased to be able to offer our Members a free glass of champagne as part of this afternoon tea, in collaboration with The Kensington Hotel.

So if you’re looking for somewhere to visit for a birthday, celebration, Mother’s Day or just an excuse to treat yourself, The Kensington is sure to impress.
